The physical therapy team works in close coordination with the departments of internal medicine, family practice, orthopaedics, neurology, rheumatology, podiatry and ENT to provide a seamless continuum of care and comprehensive services including:
- Treatment of acute and chronic injuries -- sprains, strains, neck and low back pain, joint and muscle dysfunction
- Balance and vestibular rehabilitation
- Ergonomic evaluation and recommendations
- Fitness and wellness education
- Gait analysis/ biomechanical evaluation
- Management of sports-related issues and injuries
- Orthotic devices
- Pain relief and management
- Pre-and post-surgical care with an emphasis on orthopaedic rehabilitation

- Manual therapy including: joint mobilization, myofascial release and cranio-sacral therapy
The Continence Program:
Under the direction of the Suncoast Physical Therapy Department, The Continence Program offers an innovative, therapeutic approach to loss of bladder control and urine leakage. The program is designed for active women and men of all ages who are interested in non-surgical treatment options and/ or post-operative care to help cure their incontinence. The Continence Program includes:
- Evaluation of fluid intake and urinating habits
- Evaluation of pelvic floor muscle strength and control
- Education on the latest methods of reducing bladder irritability
- Techniques in bladder training and pelvic floor exercises
- Training in pelvic floor muscle strengthening and control, which may include: progressive exercises, biofeedback, electrical stimulation and behavior training
